10,000 households from across the local area are being invited to take part in a travel study from Harlow & Gilston Garden Town.
Residents are being asked to complete an online travel diary which will help the Garden Town’s five council partners understand how people currently move around the local area.
A paper copy survey will be available from Harlow Council for those not able to access the online resources.
The Garden Town will be teaming up with data experts, Stantec, to analyse the travel diary results.
Feedback will influence how the Council partners create a long term sustainable and healthy place.
And it will also contribute towards making important investment decisions and the design of local walking, cycling and bus routes.
The 10,000 letters will go to a random selection of local postcodes within the Garden Town area.
And the mailout follows on from the recent publication of Join the Journey, the Garden Town’s vision for future transport locally.
Residents completing a travel diary will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw with four Love2Shop vouchers, each worth £250, up for grabs.
“Transport across the local area is a massive priority for Harlow & Gilston Garden Town’s council partners,” commented Cllr Lesley Wagland, Garden Town Board Member and Cabinet Member for Economic Renewal, Infrastructure and Planning at Essex County Council.
“The aim is to provide new infrastructure and choices that prioritise active and sustainable travel, such as walking, cycling and public transport.
“The travel diary data from residents will be critical in how we take this forward in the future.”
