Community Celebration Day

Residents can find out more about Harlow & Gilston Garden Town (HGGT), the town centre development and take part in fun activities at a Community Celebration Day in the Harvey Centre on Saturday 15 July.

Running from 10am – 4pm on the ground floor, the event celebrates a year since HGGT launched the Your Quality of Life project which spanned 12 weeks last summer and asked residents to comment on what they like and dislike about the local area.

Funded by the Dept for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Your Quality of Life featured 49 in-person events across Harlow and the local area plus online engagement.

The Community Celebration Day will feature a smoothie-making cycling arcade game, a family craft activity and face painting, jumbo blocks soft play plus an opportunity to meet the HGGT Team and Harlow Council and leave comments on what you’d like to see as part of the Garden Town development, Town Centre regeneration and creating communities.

And to celebrate Harlow Council’s plans for a new Arts & Cultural Quarter in Playhouse Square, Hip Hop Pop will stage a dancing performance in the Harvey Centre at 2.30pm.

HGGT Director Naisha Polaine said: “The Your Quality of Life project generated 1000 comments from Harlow & Gilston Garden Town residents and we’re using that feedback to not only shape future plans for the local area but deliver future opportunities for people to have their say and engage with us on a regular basis.

“The Your Quality of Life feedback told us that people are passionate about their neighbourhood, green space and good public transport which is brilliant to hear as we also believe these are all integral to making Harlow & Gilston Garden Town a great place to live, work and play.

“The Community Celebration Day is a great opportunity for people to find out more about both the Garden Town and town centre developments and the benefits that existing residents, and those that will be  here in the future, can look forward to.”
