Residents can help shape the design of Harlow & Gilston Garden Town’s proposed Latton Priory neighbourhood by taking part in an online survey.
With Latton Priory set to feature a minimum of 1,050 new homes as well as two schools, a local centre and travel infrastructure, comments from the survey will inform a Strategic Design Code for the proposed new community.
The Latton Priory Strategic Masterplan Framework was endorsed by Epping Forest District Council earlier this year and the completed Design Code will sit alongside this to be referenced by developers when seeking planning permission at Latton Priory in the future.

Garden Town Director, Naisha Polaine, said: “This is another first for Harlow & Gilston Garden Town as design codes have always been led by developers traditionally.
“But funding from Government means that we can work with our Garden Town partners at Epping Forest District Council and put together a design code that gives people, whether you live in Harlow or Epping, a chance to have your say on how a new community for the local area should look and feel.
“You don’t need to be a planner or designer to take part in the survey, being passionate about the local area and bringing an opinion on what has or hasn’t worked previously is what we’re looking for.”
With the survey open until Monday 11 December, Epping Forest Councillor and HGGT Board Member, Nigel Bedford, added: “We want to ensure that this design code will hold developers to the highest standards of construction and environmental sustainability.
“We are also striving to ensure it will reflect the character and community of Essex as a place, and our residents.
“If new homes are to be built then talking to local people is essential if we are to make sure the design code leads to the very best development at Latton Priory.”
If you know someone who doesn’t have access to digital resources then a paper copy of the survey can be requested via haveyoursay@hggt.co.uk or 01992 564 000.
Paper surveys will also be available from the Discover Harlow engagement hub in Harlow’s Harvey Centre.
The Discover Harlow unit is next to The Works and opposite the Brick Lane Bagel Co on the ground floor.
