Garden Town partners, Essex County Council, are consulting on significant crossing improvements at three key junctions along Harlow’s First Avenue corridor.
Designed to improve pedestrian and cycling links, the proposed works are part of the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan scheme and will mark the first phase of a new east-to-west route aimed at enhancing connectivity with Harlow Town Centre.
Residents can give their views on the proposals by clicking here before Sunday 6 July.
The last 12 months has seen significant active travel infrastructure upgrades in Harlow as part of the Garden Town with a section of the cycling/walking network between Netteswell Orchard and Pinnacles resurfaced by Essex County Council.
The Sustainable Transport Corridor works between Burnt Mill roundabout and Harlow Town Centre are progressing towards completion.
The initial proposed improvements for the First Avenue project includes:
· A new raised table crossing at the Park Lane Junction with First Avenue.
· A new toucan crossing on the northern arm of the Howard Way Roundabout near the junction with First Avenue.
· A new parallel crossing over Momples Road at the junction with First Avenue.
The aim is to significantly improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists, fostering a more sustainable and connected community in Harlow.
