Harlow residents can get across town by using Essex County Council’s daytime 407 bus service, Monday to Saturday.
Starting on Aspen Way near Gilden Park, the 407 visits Old Harlow before heading to Harlow Town railway station, the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Town Centre as well as the retail and employment areas along Edinburgh Way, which includes IKEA’s small-format store that opened this summer.
And after 7pm, the 407 becomes the 417, giving residents an evening and cost-effective option of getting around the local area with Foldcroft in Little Parndon added to the route.
Cllr Mark Platt, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Highways, Infrastructure and Sustainable Transport said: “Improving local bus services is vitally important to giving residents more choice over how they travel.
“The 407/417 in Harlow is an excellent example of how by listening to the feedback of residents, services are being adapted and added to meet demand.
“This is strategically vital service, giving residents the chance to use the bus to visit shops, the hospital and the train station.
“I hope more residents make the choice to use this and other bus services to travel around Harlow.”
2022 saw Harlow & Gilston Garden Town run their 12-week Quality of Life campaign with residents from across the local area listing better public transport as a key priority.
And with the first phase of the Garden Town’s new walking, cycling and bus routes almost completed between Harlow Town Centre and the Burnt Mill roundabout, the 407/417 service is another option for residents to travel sustainably and cost-effectively.
