Councillor John Philip, Planning Portfolio Holder for Epping Forest District Council said: “Harlow and Gilston Garden Town is a fantastic example of what can be done when neighbouring councils come together in a true working partnership. Each of the three main districts, Harlow, East Herts and Epping Forest supported by Hertfordshire and Essex County Councils are working as one to deliver the economic growth and housing the area needs in the most sustainable and environmentally friendly way possible. Our aim is to build communities where the car is unnecessary, where people have good quality jobs, and live in good quality homes.”
Councillor Philip continued: “The website is a visible milestone in the development of the partnership, complimenting the new council implementation teams which are working together, sharing not only office space but also a vision for the future, as we start to create a Garden Town for the benefit of all.”

The Harlow & Gilston Garden Town project provides one of the most exciting growth opportunities of any place in the UK. The project will result in the creation of new communities in Harlow, support the regeneration of the area and its town centre, and provide many new homes and job opportunities, including the arrival of Public Health England in their new, relocated, headquarters.
In order to realise the Vision for the Garden Town, the Garden Town Director has been working with the Councils over the last year to build a small, professional team of officers to ensure that the aspirations fro the Garden Town become reality.
The Garden Town team members are based across the five partner Councils, but come together in Harlow two days a week to work together with the Garden Town Director to develop and deliver the regeneration and growth proposals that will transform Harlow.
