Businesses and organisations across the local area can apply for 40% off a new eCargo bike thanks to a £400,000 funding pot made available by the Energy Saving Trust and the Department of Transport.
The eCargo Bike Grant Fund supports businesses switching to a more sustainable transport solution and last year saw the Harlow & Gilston team take delivery of four new eCargo bikes for use locally.
Named Billy Brakes, Electric Storm, Funky Gibberd and Peddly Weddly by local residents, the fleet is not only being used by Harlow Council and Harlow College but is now available for businesses and organisations to trial for free.

The eCargo Bike Grant Fund includes:
- Funding covers up to 40% of the total cost of an eCargo bike, up to a maximum of £2,500 for two-wheel models and £4,500 for three-wheel models
- Applications will be capped at five bikes per organisation. Larger applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Applications may include more than one organisation
The claim deadline is Monday 14 February 2022.
Note that the eCargo bikes do not need to have been delivered for the grant to be paid
