David Lloyd Begin New Club Build

Construction on David Lloyd Leisure’s £25m health and wellbeing club in Harlow is underway in the Newhall area of the town.

Set to open later this year, the new facility will sit alongside the future growth planned locally with £1.3 billion already identified for the development of Harlow & Gilston Garden Town and a £1.1 billion expansion of Stansted Airport.

With 10,000 Garden Town homes given planning permission by East Herts Council last month, David Lloyd Leisure’s new facility will contribute towards the Garden Town’s employment aspirations of 1000 new jobs per year over the next two decades.

Speaking about their plans in an exclusive interview with HGGT last year, David Lloyd Leisure’s Director of New Club Acquisition, Stuart Caswell, said: “The area is going through a major transformation with the planned housing growth so it is a great opportunity for us and one that we’re really excited about.

“We have over 130 clubs in the UK and Europe and there’s a great alignment between David Lloyd Clubs members and young urban families living in new housing and developments so Harlow has been top of our list for potential new locations for quite some time.”

David Lloyd received planning permission from HGGT partners, Harlow Council, last summer and the new facility will feature:

· Clubroom with a separate family area, kids room and workspace.

· Indoor pools and luxurious Spa Retreat plus an adults only Spa Garden with an outdoor pool that is heated all year round

· State-of-the art gym with 100+ stations and expert personal trainers

· Bespoke designed group class studios including a high energy studio, a tranquil mind and body studio, an energising cycle studio and an outdoor class training area known as Battlebox.
