Harlow resident with a Pedal Power bike

Cyclists Power Past 1500 Mile Marker in Harlow

Harlow residents who are signed up to the Essex Pedal Power project have cycled over 1500 miles between them this year.

Funded by Sport England with a top up from Harlow & Gilston Garden Town, Essex Pedal Power gives people an opportunity to receive a free bike and cycle locally as part of their day-to-day lives.

The scheme not only helps improve physical and mental health but gives Harlow residents access to training, employment and educational opportunities.

With new and improved cycling routes coming as part of the Garden Town’s Sustainable Transport corridor construction currently taking place between Burnt Mill roundabout and Harlow Town Centre, project partners Rainbow Services have already found homes for 41 of the 200 bikes available locally.

And Essex Pedal Power cyclists are also having a positive impact on the environment with nearly 400kg saved in Co2 emissions since the turn of the year.

While there is a waiting list for the remaining Essex Pedal Power bikes, Rainbow Services are still accepting applications, click here to find our more.
