A Thriving Town Centre

Garden Town Director, Naisha Polaine, has joined Robert Halfon MP in welcoming last week’s news that Harlow will receive £20m from Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

Harlow District Council, a Garden Town partner, have already committed the money towards a new Arts and Cultural Quarter for the local area plus upgrades to the Playhouse Theatre.

“It is absolutely fantastic news for the future of Harlow as the regeneration of the town centre will be the beating heart for the growth of Harlow & Gilston Garden Town,” said Naisha.

“Residents of Harlow deserve a thriving town centre that empowers and inspires people and also supports investment, local business and entrepreneurship.

“The new residents to come from the Garden Town in the future will join in sustaining this.

“Harlow is synonymous with sculpture and the new arts and culture quarter continues Sir Frederick Gibberd’s legacy, putting the town on the map as a go to destination for entertainment, leisure and commerce.”

The Arts and Cultural Quarter will include a live music and performance venue (including music school and recording studio) and a public square for events, outdoor performances, cinema, and outdoor dining.

Harlow MP, Robert Halfon, said: “Under this Conservative Government, Harlow has had investment like never before, truly worth hundreds of millions.

“We are regenerating our town for our residents, building an even better Harlow and making it a great place to live, work and grow up.”
